Some interesting info on the Fantasy Flight forums about the upcoming Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay 3rd Edition:
So, the system doesn’t look as bad as I feared, but I still don’t like it.
What if I lose a card? What if I lose a custom dice?
What if I want to create a custom career? A custom career specility? A custom whatever that is now handled with a deck of cards? With the old system I could just make some scribblings in a piece of paper.
What if I forget to bring a certain deck of cards or some custom dice to the game? In 2nd edition I just had to remember bringing along the core book and the character sheets. Players will always bring enough dice (regular, standard dice) and, as any experienced GM knows, a pre-planned adventure is always optional. 3rd edition seems to need an awful lot of custom material.
Will I buy it? I frankly don’t know – I’ll have to read some reviews when the final product becomes available. Again, it’s a real pity this is not a separated product from the already excellent 2nd edition.
On a somewhat related note, Fantasy Flight really knows how to make a desirable product: their Rogue Trader Collectors Edition looks truly fantastic! It’s a bit on the expensive side, true, but what a treat for WH40k fans.
