The adventure was the classic Secret of Castronegro, and it ended in almost-TPK. My players were somewhat uncareful, something you can’t afford in a remote town packed full with Mythos-tamed villagers, not too keen on strangers. Long story short, only one investigator survived, and then decided judiciously it was the proper time for an early retirement.
Some months pass, and the very same group of players are leading a brand new pack of intrepid adventurers… who are hired to investigate some strange disappearances in a certain town named Castronegro.
They decide to do their homework before leaving for that town and find out that, some months ago, another bunch of detectives dissapeared in that town… save one, who is retired somewhere in southern USA. They decide to call him trying to get all possible information.
Of course, we all chose to make the call the very same player who managed to survive our previous incursion in Castronegro, and, since it was his old character he was phoning, I decided he had to roleplay both characters – so he had his new investigator inquiring his old investigator! It was a funny monologue-cum-conversation that the player managed successfully, getting all the information he needed from himself and gaining a deserved round of applause from the table thereafter.
Regardless to say, the second time around Castronegro things came along much better!
